Our Story
Nestled in the heart of Roxborough, Eremita Café is a coffee shop and a living homage to local art, music, and mysticism. Founded by touring bassist and longtime neighborhood resident Phil D’Agostino, the café draws on his deep musical roots and a desire to build something lasting within the community.
With colorful seating, rotating artwork by local creatives, and coffee from beloved local roasters, Eremita invites visitors to gather, create, and be. The name, Italian for hermit, nods to the Kelpius Society, a 17th-century sect of musicians and mystics who once called the Wissahickon home. Much like its namesake, Eremita is a space with a warm vibe for seekers, artists, and wanderers alike.
